I'm Joe Stevens, a designer and developer in New Jersey. I work with owner-led businesses and small brands on websites, Shopify stores, and the connections between the tools they already use.
I take on a small number of projects alongside other work, so each one is scoped clearly before it starts and I'm upfront about timing.
How I work
I start from how the business actually runs: who updates the site, where customers get stuck, and which tools are already in place. Then I design and build the smallest thing that fixes it properly.
I care about handover. A founder adding her own homepage reels, or a new neighborhood guide going live as a content entry instead of a new page, matters as much as how the site looks on launch day.
How I credit work
Some projects build on a brand an agency created or content the client supplied. Each case study says what I did, what was already in place, and where AI coding agents did part of the work.
I use AI-assisted development tools as part of my workflow. I review what they produce and I'm responsible for everything that ships.
I only describe results I can show. Where a project has no measured outcome yet, the case study says so.
